NOBAC Products
What is NOBAC?
NOBAC is an organic-based solution that effectively removes bad odor in the farm environment by acting on
the source. It is an odor-less, brown liquid made from natural plant extracts. This solution is diluted in water
and is readily applied on the surfaces (floors, walls, etc) where waste can come into contact or accumulate. It
is also applied directly on animal waste and waste lagoons to control bad odor.
NOBAC is a basic solution (pH 9-11) that neutralizes acidic environment. This effectively controls the
proliferation of most odor-causing bacteria that thrive in acidic conditions. Its high pH level also deactivates
viruses that are susceptible to basic conditions
NOBAC is free of hard chemicals that can be harmful to humans and animals. It is non-toxic and nonflammable
and is safe to use. It does not require the removal of animals from the housing for it to be applied.
NOBAC does not contain bacteria and does not require any inoculation time for the solution to be used. The
product is readily usable and does not require the inconvenience and expenses involved in inoculating
microorganisms.
NOBAC is very stable and is conveniently stored. If kept in original container, the solution is still effective even
after five years. A diluted solution is still effective even after a period of six months
Polyphenoloxidase
NOBAC is made of extract from plants that contain Polyphenoloxidase (PPO). PPO is an oxidoreductase that
naturally degrades gases through oxidation. It degrades odor-causing gases like ammonia, sulfur gases and
thiol.
PPO is the same enzyme that causes the “browning” on cut surfaces of fruits like apples and bananas. It is
through this same action that PPO accelerates the decomposition of fecal matter, making it an effective
compost catalyst, thus decreasing odor coming from feces.
NOBAC in Fly Control
NOBAC is made of extracts from plants that naturally repel flies. This and the removal of fecal odor that attract
flies also make NOBAC an effective fly repellant.
Aside from being an effective fly repellant, NOBAC also disrupts the fly’s life cycle by controlling the infestation
of larva in fecal matter. This is done by making feces inhabitable to larva by hastening fecal decomposition,
and not by directly killing the larva.
Application of NOBAC
NOBAC is diluted in water when applied on farms. It is advised that the diluted product be applied using a
power sprayer to use the product efficiently.
Initial or “Shock” treatment is required for farms that would use NOBAC for the first time. This is needed to act
on the deeply rooted source of bad odor on surfaces that has not been treated with NOBAC. This would
require a NOBAC-water dilution ratio of 1:50. Application is done every other day for three days on the first
week. An area of 400 square meters can be covered by 100 liters of this diluted solution.
Maintenance treatment is done after the “shock” treatment. This is needed to treat the waste that is
continuously produced by the animals. This would require a NOBAC-water dilution ratio of 1:100. Application is
done on a weekly basis. An area of 400 square meters can be covered by 100 liters of this diluted solution.
The application of NOBAC in treatment ponds would require a 1:20 dilution rate. This solution is applied into
the pond using an extension hose to allow the release of NOBAC at the bottom of the pond. Twenty liters of
this dilution is applied in one cubic meter of space in a pond. A single treatment of the pond can be done
because the use of NOBAC in the farmhouse would result in treated effluents going into the pond. Some farm
operators maximize the use of NOBAC on their ponds by spraying on the pond’s surface every week.
Benefits of NOBAC
The primary benefit of NOBAC is the improvement of air quality in the farm. An improved air quality (decrease
of bad odor) would lead to a more harmonious relationship with community surrounding the farm. Good air
quality will also lead to comfortable working conditions farm personnel thus increasing production.
Good air quality brought about by the use of NOBAC will also decrease the chances of pulmonary diseases for
the animals. It will also lead in the decrease of the level of pathogenic microorganisms. This will result to a
more efficient production and less chance of extra expenses brought about by diseases.
The significant decrease of flies in the farms due to NOBAC will also decrease the chances of having fly-borne
diseases in the farm
